Biography

Associate Professor Ben Harris-Roxas is a health services researcher, impact assessor and evaluator. He describes his research career as something like The Hobbit – a journey there are back again. After starting in social work, Ben worked in public health research for ten year before spending six years as a consultant in the private sector. He moved back into university research roles in 2017.

Ben is Director of the South Eastern Sydney Research Collaboration Hub (SEaRCH), a partnership between the University of New South Wales and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. His research has focused on health equity, integrated care, intersectoral action for health, and the effectiveness of decision support tools to enhance the consideration of health in planning and implementation.

Ben is an inveterate tweeter, with over 15,000 followers. In 2015 he was described as Australia’s most-followed individual (multifocus) public health twitter account in Public Health Research & Practice, which is the nicest way anyone has ever been described as a dilettante.
