Daniela Martin
Speaker Bio:
I’m Daniela Martin, a science communicator, media producer and researcher with more than 15 years of experience helping people make sense of complex ideas. At IMI, I lead communications strategy and digital presence, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about how research travels: from a project meeting, a dataset or a technical report into something people can actually understand, use and act on. I oversee media relations, social media and the production of educational, promotional and research-based content, and I have worked across more than a dozen European Commission-funded projects. My background sits somewhere between science communication, urban sociology, research methods and media production. I have taught in universities in Mexico and Germany, designed online courses and workshops, and trained hundreds of students, researchers and professionals in science communication, research impact, public engagement and policy communication. I also know the production side of communication firsthand. I have produced media in many formats, including infographics, videos, explainers, animated series and graphic novels, working with artists and production teams around the world. One career highlight was a collaboration with Lucasfilm, which was especially memorable because I am, and remain, a very committed Star Wars fan. That mix shapes how I approach AI in communications: not as a magic shortcut, but as a practical set of tools that can help us think, draft, test, adapt and communicate more carefully when used well.
