Biography

Dr Emily Yarrow is a Lecturer in International HRM at the University of Portsmouth Business School. Her research interests broadly include organisational theory, inequality regimes, and governance in higher education. To date, her research has focused on the impact of research evaluation on female academic careers, research impact, women’s lived experiences of organisational life, and the experiences of older workers.

Emily’s research aims to be at the forefront of research into the Research Excellence Framework (REF), as well as research evaluation and impact across the globe, contributing empirical findings to the discourse in an original and innovative way. As well as developing her publication pipeline, Emily regularly contributes to online blogs, such as Wonkhe and is developing her media presence ongoing. Emily has also been integral in recent projects for the Scottish Government and corporate consultancy at The University of Edinburgh Business School. Emily has a robust commercial background and prior to returning to academia, Emily worked for Scottish Widows, and for Procter and Gamble as a Buyer.
