Dr. Jennifer Lees-Marshment
Dr Jennifer Lees-Marshment’s main aim is to connect academic research with practice, to ensure that the 16 books she has written don’t just stay on the shelf collecting dust! A world expert in political marketing and political management, Jennifer wants to use this expertise to make a difference and encourage other academics to engage in research impact as well as employability focused teaching. She engages with practice by interviewing political practitioners including government ministers and advisors to Prime Ministers and Presidents; creating advice for practice from research; appearing in the media work and working with organisations. She is on the research working group for the International Association for Public Participation Australasia, she Chaired the NZ Magna Carta 800th anniversary committee which connected with wide-ranging community organisations and government; and she is Academic Advisor to TVNZ’s Vote Compass (2014, 2017, 2020) and Kiwimeter (2015) initiatives, which have engaged over a million members of the public in discussing politics and policy.
