Speaker Bio:
I’m an academic researcher and, since 2025, also an Impact Ninja – the name of my company, which helps academics and research institutions generate, develop and write about research impact. My academic obsession is the “discourse of impact”: what happens to academic communication when new evaluation criteria enter the game. I’m interested in the new genres, media and communication practices that emerge around impact – and in what they tell us about how academia itself is changing. I’m currently PI of three projects exploring research impact from a comparative, multinational perspective (funded by the National Science Centre in Poland, Volkswagen Foundation in Germany and Horizon EU). I find it fascinating how much local academic cultures shape the ways we understand, practice and communicate impact. More recently, I’ve also become interested in a question that is hard to avoid: how will AI change the ways we write about impact? I hold a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Warwick (2019) and am currently an Assistant Professor in the English Studies Department at SWPS University in Warsaw, Poland.
