Speaker Bio:
Sally is Professor of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at The University of Queensland. She researches, teaches and mentors others in knowledge translation, implementation science, and evidence-based practice. Sally was awarded Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Australia Research Academy in recognition of exemplary and impactful contribution to occupational therapy research and has held editorial and advisory roles at the national and international level. Some of her most impactful work has included development of an online database of research evidence relevant to occupational therapy - used in over 150 countries, and delivery of a capacity building initiative to support therapist’s translation of research into practice - resulting in clinical impacts for thousands of patients. She is currently implementing an evidence-based program to support people living with dementia, Australia-wide. She co-chairs the Knowledge Translation and Impact research theme in her school with Dr Emmah Doig that provides training, mentoring and research about knowledge translation and communicating impact. Sally is also an avid dog lover, and in her spare time has spent countless hours in creeks retrieving escaping beagles!
