Speaker Bio:
I make strategies, build relationships, tell stories, and have a knack for blending research, best practices, purposeful governance, and a desire to address inequities, into creation and translation of useful knowledge. Combining savviness of program management, stakeholder engagement and finance, a passion for people development, and two decades of management, leadership, governance and advisory experience of higher education, research and social enterprise in complex international settings, I lead university-industry-community collaborations and optimize utilization of scarce resources to create public good, stakeholder value, and generate economic, health and social benefits. Previously, having graduated in Mathematics, articled with a big-five, traded the finance and business analyst expertise, and pioneered consultancy for not-for-profits I transitioned into impact- making, transformational change, and innovation in academic, administration, research, and entrepreneurial practice with higher education institutions. A Master of Education Management, a Masters of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, ongoing PhD study of transnational research collaboration in higher education, and reflections of strategy making and execution with institutions at various stages of their evolution, influence my practice and has taken me across continents including the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, the Going Global initiative of the UK, Centre of Excellence for Applied Research in the Middle East and North Africa, Higher Colleges of Technology in the Emirates, the University of Melbourne and Australia’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency. Chairman of Eastern Volunteers, a not-for-profit social enterprise serving communities along the eastern corridors of Melbourne, and Fellow of both the Institute of Governance and CIMA, I thoroughly enjoy leading cross functional, multi-disciplinary teams to excellence, and telling stories that optimise the knowledge value chain.
